Mumbai, Czech Republic’s Krystyna Pyszkova emerged victorious as Miss World 2024, succeeding reigning titleholder Karolina Bielawska from Poland. The event, attended by luminaries from across the globe, witnessed a fierce competition, with Indian contestant Sini Shetty making it to the top 8.
Pyszkova, crowned by Bielawska, now holds the prestigious title, becoming the 71st Miss World. This marks the second time a representative from the Czech Republic has claimed the crown since Tatana Kucharova’s win in 2006.
Hailing from the Czech Republic, Pyszkova is not just a beauty queen but a multifaceted individual pursuing degrees in law and business administration. She is also the founder of the Krystyna Pyszko Foundation, demonstrating her commitment to sustainable development through education.
What sets Pyszkova apart is her dedication to philanthropy. Her proudest moment, as stated on the official Miss World website, was establishing an English school for underprivileged children in Tanzania, where she actively volunteered. Fluent in several languages including English, Polish, Slovak, and German, Pyszkova advocates for education as a tool for positive change.
Aside from her humanitarian efforts, Pyszkova is also a talented musician, skilled in playing the transverse flute and the violin. India, the host country for this year’s Miss World pageant after a gap of 28 years, showcased its own contender, 22-year-old Sini Shetty. Although Shetty, crowned Femina Miss India World in 2022, reached the top 8, it was Yasmina Zaytoun from Lebanon who claimed the first runner-up position.
The Miss World pageant, featuring contestants from 112 countries, was held at the Jio World Convention Centre in BKC, Mumbai. The esteemed judging panel included notable figures such as film producer Sajid Nadiadwala, actors Kriti Sanon and Pooja Hegde, cricketer Harbhajan Singh, and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra Jonas, among others.
The grand event, hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar and former Miss World Megan Young, showcased stunning performances by renowned singers Shaan, Neha Kakkar, and Tony Kakkar. It also featured a special appearance by the cast of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar” alongside fast-track Miss World contestants.
