Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

Samsung has unveiled its latest foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 6. As the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the new Z Fold 6 brings several enhancements and new features.

Design

The Z Fold 6 retains the book-style foldable design of previous models, with a vertical hinge allowing the device to open up to reveal a large, tablet-sized inner display. However, Samsung has managed to slim down the body further, making the Z Fold 6 both lighter and thinner than its predecessor.

The outer display is slightly larger at 6.5 inches, with slimmer bezels for a more immersive look. It features a hole-punch style selfie camera in the top center. Unfolded, the inner display measures 7.6 inches diagonally. It’s an AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate for smooth scrolling and animations.

Cameras

For cameras, the Z Fold 6 has an upgraded triple lens system. The main camera is a 50MP wide sensor, paired with a 12MP ultrawide lens and a 10MP 3x optical telephoto lens with 30x digital zoom. This provides flexibility for both landscape photography and close-up shots. The under-display inner camera is now 16MP, while the outer selfie camera is 10MP.

Performance and battery life

Powering the Z Fold 6 is the newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, making it extremely fast and responsive. This is paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. It runs Android 13 with Samsung’s One UI 5.0 software overlay.

Battery capacity has been increased to 4,900 mAh, which Samsung claims will provide all-day battery life even with heavy use. Fast charging and wireless charging are also supported.

Pricing and availability

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is available now, starting at $1799. It comes in three colors: Phantom Black, Beige, and Green. The premium foldable competes directly with the likes of the Motorola Razr 2023 and upcoming foldable iPhones.
