The US House of Representatives has agreed to provide Ukraine with a lot of money and military help to fight against Russia’s invasion. This decision took a long time to make because some people in Congress didn’t agree with it. Finally, they reached a deal to give Ukraine $61 billion.
A big part of this money, around one-third, will be used to buy new weapons and bullets for Ukraine. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, thanked the US for this help and said it was very important.
The aid will include things like air defense systems, missiles that can hit targets from far away, and more bullets for their guns. But we don’t know exactly when this help will reach Ukraine. The Senate still needs to agree to this plan, and then President Joe Biden will sign it into law.
Ukraine really needs this help because they are struggling to stop Russian soldiers from taking over their country. The President of Ukraine said that with the right weapons, they can change the situation and protect their cities better.
Apart from weapons, Ukraine will also get more than $9 billion in loans that they won’t have to pay back. This money will help them with their economy.
The war between Ukraine and Russia started in 2022. Many people, including soldiers, have been hurt or killed, and lots of Ukrainians have had to leave their homes.
The House of Representatives cheered when they agreed to give this aid, and President Biden said it was important to act quickly to help Ukraine on the battlefield.
Other countries and groups like NATO also support giving aid to Ukraine. But Russia, the country fighting against Ukraine, is not happy about this decision and says it will make things worse.
The US has been helping Ukraine for a long time, but it hasn’t given them a lot of money for a year and a half because of disagreements in Congress. Now, with this new decision, Ukraine will get more help to fight against Russia.
